All publishing houses have their own ways of promoting themselves, but how many would produce and send a teeshirt to all their authors? That’s what Tirgearr did with their Team Tirgearryan shirts, and here I am, modelling mine on the picturesque (and rather windy) Brouwersgracht in Amsterdam.

As you can probably tell, the teeshirt design is a nod to Game of Thrones, though sadly the lovely Kemberlee at Tirgearr hasn’t yet provided us all with our own dragon…
If you’d like your own House of Tirgearryen teeshirt, they’re available to buy on the Tirgearr website. And as an added bonus for lovers of the Tirgearr City Nights series (including my own One Night In Brussels), all the books are part of the Tirgearr store-wide sale at Smashwords from now until the end of July. To start shopping, click on the banner below, then use the code SSW50 at the checkout to receive your discount. Gelukkig lezen! (That’s Dutch for ‘happy reading’.)
…as I’m guest author on Jen Wright’s blog today. You can find out more about my writing process and the challenges of plotting The Pride of Amsterdam by following this link. (And if you’re a fan of male/male paranormal romance, don’t forget to check out Jen’s best-selling Finding Home series – Pavarus, Morvea and Airos.)
Meanwhile, if you want to know more about what I think of Amsterdam, and find out which books I recommend that use the city as a backdrop, then visit Female First – and don’t forget to leave a comment about any Amsterdam-themed novels I might have missed…
To celebrate the fact my Amsterdam-based novel is finished and (fingers crossed!) about to be contracted, here is another selection of the places that provide some of the settings for the action.

Of course, the one thing that’s missing from all these scenes is a lion – but more of that in due course…
Here are a few more of the Amsterdam scenes that are currently helping to inspire one of my WIPs. As one of the characters lives on a houseboat, here are some of the different types of boats on which the city’s canal-dwellers reside, from purpose built homes to former working vessels…

At the moment, I’m hard at work on two very different WIPs, one set in Amsterdam and the other in a Welsh seaside resort, and I thought I’d post a few shots to give a flavour of the settings (if not the storylines – those will hopefully be revealed in due course). So today, here’s Amsterdam in all its glory, complete with tall, gabled buildings, canals and bridges. Tomorrow, I’ll have some beautiful Welsh beaches for you.
